OUR VISION
We believe that the Gospel is the only message powerful enough to radically change Haiti. We hope to plant disciple-making churches & empower local communities through free entrepreneurship training.
THREE
COMPONENTS TO HOLISTIC RESTORATION
1
CHURCH PLANTING
We want to plant discipleship-focused, evangelistic, reproducing churches. This new type of church will need at least 5 years or more to create solid foundations for reproduction.
2
ENTREPRENEURSHIP
We believe in the power of compound change. An area that has been changed by the gospel is ripe to create ethical business conditions that elevate local economies and through empowering people to use their God-given gifts.
3
EDUCATION
We believe that the more pervasive affordable education becomes in Haiti, the easier it will become for Haiti to improve the quality of life of the average individual.
OUR HISTORY
In 1997 Our founder Edgard Chery collaborated with pastor and teacher Ulrick Ariste to build a church in Port au Prince, Haiti. An earthquake in 2010 would radically shift the vision and mission of the church. Haitian Helping Hands was created in 2013 to rebuild the original church but God had bigger plans.
Edgard Chery
Ulrick Ariste
Edgard Chery, his family, and Ulrick Ariste joined together to build a church community in Port au Prince, Haiti called the Church of the Apostles of Christ in 1997 with their own resources. The church building was severely damaged in 2010, but the church people still gathered in the ruins.
In 2013, we were inspired and aided by a close friend, Raymond Johnson, to start this non-profit to invite partners into the work that God was doing in Haiti. The Church of the apostles of Christ was repaired and would include a free school for kids K-12 as well as a free wedding ministry. Pastor Ulrick passed away in 2016.
In 2017, God gave us a fresh vision to plant local disciple-making churches all over Haiti and to empower local leaders by offering free entrepreneurship classes.
Since then, we’ve begun to focus on the holistic development of people and communities and have seen God move and grow our ministry during the one of the hardest seasons of Haiti’s History!
